Future Senior Programming

As many of you have already heard, Poway senior programming will be transferred to the City of Poway sometime in mid to late summer of 2021. The pandemic has created a future of uncertainty for us. We have relied heavily on Community Bingo proceeds to support programming and the costs of running the center. We are unsure how soon Bingo will be up and running again, as it is a congregate setting event and we are still under order to socially distance to keep our community safe. However, we are steadfastly preparing for the time when it can resume. We have concluded that the best way to serve our seniors moving forward, will be to turn over all programming services to the City so that they could run it in a way that maximizes the experiences for our senior clientele, and so that they can enjoy the most that the multi-generational building has to offer.

Our intent is to transform our current senior service nonprofit into a funding resource arm for the city-run Older Adult Services arm of the community center. Our goal is to financially support impactful and beneficial programming that the municipality will oversee. We are very pleased with the reception our vision of the Poway Senior Center’s re- invention has received. And, we have enjoyed the collaboration and collective effort on everyone’s part, as we work through the details of what this new organizational structure will look like. We are confident that the new relationship will be in the best interests of our clients, the Senior Community of Poway, the Board of Directors, and the City.

If you are a current senior center member, visitor or donor for the Poway Senior Center at this time and have any questions or concerns about how our funds are currently being used, or would like to know more about our mission and vision as our organization evolves please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

You can reach a Board of Director by either calling 858-880-4632 or 858-353-1638.

Thank you for supporting the Poway Senior Center, and we look forward to your continued support as we carve an equally impactful path as a senior-supporting organization.
